Choral Prelude “Praise To The Lord, The Almighty”
Andy Smith, Paul von Wupperfeld, Robert McWilliams
Call to Worship Adam White
We come together to celebrate Jesus Christ, who, though He was in the form of God,
did not consider being equal with God something to exploit.
Instead, he emptied Himself completely, not only taking on human form, but the form of a slave. He humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
So God raised Him up with great honor, and gave Him a name above all other names,
that at the name of Jesus, everyone in heaven and on earth and even under the earth
might bow down, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
This is our God—
the God we have come to worship!
Hymn “Hail the Day that Sees Him Rise” UMH #312
1 Hail the day that sees him rise, Alleluia! To his throne above the skies, Alleluia!
Christ, awhile to mortals given, Alleluia! Re-ascends his native heaven, Alleluia!
2 There the glorious triumph waits, Alleluia! Lift your heads, eternal gates, Alleluia!
Christ hath conquered death and sin, Alleluia! Take the King of glory in, Alleluia!
3 See! the heaven its Lord receives, Alleluia! Yet he loves the earth he leaves, Alleluia!
Though returning to his throne, Alleluia! Still he calls the world his own, Alleluia!
4 See! he lifts his hands above, Alleluia! See! he shows the prints of love, Alleluia!
Hark! his gracious lips bestow, Alleluia! Blessings on his church below, Alleluia!

Sermon “Personal Jesus?” Eric Markinson
Nicene Creed Adam White
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and was made one of us. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever.
Amen
